GENESIS-next-GEN biosEnsing: tailoring precision Immunotherapies for LTP allergies
Joana Costa
The GENESIS project aims to advance the development of new biosensors for quantifying LTP (Pru p 3, case study) in foods intended for immunotherapy. The project will explore different biosensor platforms to quantify the target allergen, whilst also investigating the impact of food processing and matrix on the allergenicity of LTPs. Another focus of the innovative GENESIS project is the identification and development of model foods with reduced allergenicity for the safer application of oral immunotherapy (OIT). GENESIS is an innovative, high-impact research initiative that links food science, biosensor technology, and clinical allergology in order to address the challenges posed by LTP allergies. By developing cutting-edge diagnostic tools and personalised immunotherapy strategies, GENESIS aims to transform the way allergies are treated and significantly improve quality of life for allergy sufferers worldwide.
